Usually, I talk about how to promote your work. For a little change, I'm going to share a few articles about National Novel Writing Month.
National Novel Writing Month - NaNo for short - is a yearly writing competition that everyone can win. In 2006, over 80,000 began the competition and almost 13,000 "won". You may wonder what you need to do to win. During the month of November, each writer needs to get 50,000 words of a new novel on paper.
The website (www.nanowrimo.org) talks about quantity of words and not quality. As a fulltime freelance writer, I don't have a month to randomly put words on paper. But, I've developed a system that works well for me and this will be my 6th year in NaNo. I made a huge mistake the first year and even though I got 67,000 words on paper, it was all backstory and I had to start the book over.
