Finding Ways To Write
1) Find small amounts of time to write, 20 to 30 minutes can
be more productive then not writing at all.
2) Keep a journal of what is done everyday and for how long.
There are lots of time that is wasted reading the paper,
watching TV, sleeping in, ect. Adjust the rest times to allow
more time to write.
3) Since time is short, think about what the subject of the
writing will be ahead of time so that a blank paper does not
stay that way.
4) Make a place that is for writing only. There are some
suggestions in the article Space Organization for Writers.
5) Work around the family's schedule, instead of scheduling
writing time in the middle of a family activity. Everyone will
be happier and more supportive.
6) Use the times when the creativity is flowing. In the journal
from #2 also keep track of when the most ideas seem to happen.
7) Match tasks to time slots so that tasks do not take more time
then needed and confuse the schedule.
8) Have several writing projects going at the same time so that
writer's block will never invade on one project.
9) Learn to stop working on projects that are not going
anywhere. Not every idea will work out.
10) Make sure to write everyday. It may not be the novel of a
lifetime but any kind of writing is developing skill.
