All writers want to see some reward for their writing. They want to be published and they want to get paid for their writing. The only way to make writing pay is to write regularly. Here are three ways that successful writers find writing time.

Have A Writing Goal

Writers will best know what they want to write. Having an objective will make it easier to decide what time should be set aside for writing. When writing a novel, short story or article, writers may already have an outline to work to. Even with a poem, there's usually an idea that a writer is working on. Whatever the type of writing, writers must decide what they want to achieve from a writing session.

When writing a novel, a writer may have an outline of chapters and characters. A writer could decide that today's objective is to write the history of one of the main characters. Some writers work better with a fixed, measurable goal. For those writers, deciding on a number of words to write is a better approach.

Example: By the end of my working week, I have to write 10 web articles with a total word count of 5000 words. If I write five days a week, I need to write 1,000 words a day. But if I write only three days a week, I need to write about 1700 words a day.

Take Time To Write

Most published writers say that writers should write every day. This is good advice. The only way for writers to write well is to write often. This will also help writers to get published and get paid. Writers need to think about their daily schedule. Here's a list of some times that writers might be able to find some time.

- Early risers may be able to write before starting the morning routine of getting children off to school.
- Early risers without children can write before getting ready for work or daily chores.
- Writers with young children can write during nap times or after bedtime in the evening.
- Writers who work outside the home can write during their lunch hour.

Remember, the important thing is not how long writers write; it is that they write.

Make Writing Routine

Once a writer has decided how much time to allocate for writing every day, this should be entered in the diary. Writing daily soon becomes part of a writer's routine. Don't take calls, don't do housework, just write. Writers who write every day soon have completed work to show to others.
