Living on the Edge of Success
Do you have a sixth sense that success is just around one
more corner? The next day's post will deliver a check or
publishing contract. All you need to do is change something,
quit and write full time, apply for a small business loan,
move to an office, join a new writer's group, start a new
novel. Almost like magic, there is only one more thing to do
and then happiness will come knocking at the door.
Life is an evolution, not a destination, success is an
action. The problems will never go away, the obstacles will
never be overcome, the competition will never step aside,
publishers will never suddenly realize they have been
overlooking the next sensational author.
I've watched writers waste years waiting to arrive and
become a huge success. Small goals are avoided, never
celebrated, because the writer is too busy preparing for the
big one. The small successes are never enough to make them
happy.
